"I guess there's no other Yuki, is there..." mikki's eyes trail off into the garden, before locking back to Yuji's. "Are you okay? Talk to me."

Yuji exhales through his nose — a quiet, private sound, the kind that doesn't mean anything except that the air needed somewhere to go. His elbows drop to his knees and he laces his fingers together, staring at the fig tree's gnarled root where it breaks the surface of the garden bed, like the answer is buried somewhere just under the dirt. A beat of heatwave silence stretches between them — thick and heavy and honest — before he turns to look at Mikki, and what's on his face isn't panic, exactly. It's the particular softness of someone who just got handed the most terrifying information of their life and is choosing, deliberately, to sit with it instead of run from it.

Yuji Itadori: "I don't know yet. I think I need a second to — it's a lot. The kids I can work with, conceptually. But Yuki's here right now. She's inside that villa right now and I've been — I haven't even really talked to her yet, and now you're telling me your hands read my future and she's in it."

Yuji Itadori: "But yeah. Keep talking to me. Don't stop."

"That makes sense. It's scary. I get it." Mikki pauses for a moment. "Some more important information you should know - my visions aren't 100%. They're 98%. Which is... very high. But there's still a very small chance this could be wrong. 2%."

The number lands quietly — two percent, barely anything, the kind of margin that should be reassuring — and Mikki watches Yuji absorb it in real time. He exhales through his nose, a slow and deliberate kind of breath, then does the math the way he always does: out loud, with his whole face. His jaw tightens once, releases, and then something in him settles — not relief exactly, but the particular stillness of a person who has decided to sit inside an uncomfortable truth rather than argue with it. The heat presses down through the fig leaves above them in shifting pockets of gold, and neither of them moves.

Yuji Itadori: "Two percent. Okay. Yeah. I can — I'm going to choose to think about that two percent extremely hard for the next several days and probably do nothing useful with it."

"Maybe that didn't help you at all..." Mikki furrows her brows, realizing that more information may not be the best thing for Yuji. "Yuji... what do you think of me? And what do you think of Yuki? Is this information something you're okay with, or disappointed by? Dont think too hard about giving the right answer, I want the honest one."

Yuji lifts his head slow, like a man deciding whether to tell the truth before he's fully decided. He looks at her the way he looks at things he's already made peace with — direct, a little too open, the kind of eye contact that belongs in confessionals and foxholes. The heatwave presses down through the fig leaves in gold-dappled patches across his forearms, and he doesn't look away.

Yuji Itadori: "You helped me. You don't give people useless information — you gave me something true, even when it was scary to say it out loud."

Yuji Itadori: "Yuki's — I don't know what Yuki is yet. She just got here. That's honest. And you're — you've been here, and your hands found all of that in mine, and you looked just as rattled as I was, and that matters to me a lot more than a percentage."

Mikki takes her hands and places them on either side of Yuji's face, deciding to give him her full honesty. "Yuji... I really like you. And

Mikki reaches up and cups Yuji's face in both hands — the warmth of her palms against his jaw, the heatwave pressing down through the fig leaves above them, the note and petal still sitting on the stone between them like witnesses. He goes very still under her hands, the way animals do when they feel something they don't want to scare away. His eyes drop to hers and hold there — not flinching, not overcompensating with a smile — just open, waiting for whatever she's actually going to say. The garden is absolutely quiet except for the cicadas.

Yuji Itadori: "Okay. Yeah. I'm listening."

Mikki places her hands on Yuji's face, his cheeks specifically, deciding to give him her full honesty. "Yuji... i really like you. And... I really like Sukuna too. But I feel like we both need that 2% to drop even lower. And we can do that, if Sukuna agrees to a reading. I'll see if I can arrange that. Until then..." she looks at his lips, gently stroking his cheek with her thumb, every sign saying she's about to kiss him.

The words land one by one, honest and unhurried, and Yuji doesn't move — not even to breathe, for a second. Her thumbs trace slow arcs across his cheekbones, and the heatwave presses down through the fig leaves in shifting gold, and when she says Sukuna's name it doesn't break anything, exactly — it just changes the shape of the air between them. He processes it the way he processes everything that matters: openly, with his whole face, letting her watch him figure it out in real time. Then his eyes drop, just once, to her lips — and come back up, steadier than before.

Yuji Itadori: "Okay. Yeah. That's honest. And I meant what I said — you matter more than a percentage, so figure out the reading. Do what you need to do."

Mikki leans in, planting a gentle kiss on Yuji's lips. She breaks away clean, hands still on his face, "Until then, strike up a conversation with Yuki. Start to get to know her. Right now she isn't your 100% but she is your 98% and those are really good odds. Just saying." Mikki smiles at him, and pulls away, pausing a moment on the bench to allow him to respond before she leaves.

She closes the distance slowly — no hesitation, no performance — just her mouth against his, soft and deliberate, the kind of kiss that means exactly what it says and nothing more. He doesn't chase it. He doesn't grab for her. He just receives it with both hands still loose at his sides, the fig tree's shade pressing down on both of them in the morning heat, and when she pulls back his eyes open a half-second after hers do. Her thumbs trace the last slow arc across his cheekbones and she keeps her hands where they are — on his face, honest — as she says the rest of it. Something in his expression shifts, not hurt, not relieved exactly, but the specific look of a person who just got handed a very clear instruction and is deciding whether he's capable of following it.

Yuji Itadori: "Ninety-eight percent and you're telling me to go introduce myself. That's — yeah. That's fair. That's extremely fair and also kind of brutal."

"Sorry for the kiss, by the way. I know that probably complicated things instead of made anything better. I just... needed to do it." She closed as she got up and began to walk back towards the villa.

Mikki says it quietly, already standing, the fig tree's shade breaking across her shoulders in shifting gold as the heatwave presses down around them. She doesn't look back — not all the way — just a clean exit the way she does things, honest and gone before it can get heavier. Yuji stays on the bench, one forearm braced against his knee, the note and petal still sitting on the stone beside him like they belong to a different morning. He watches her take the first two steps toward the villa and then — unhurried, like a man who has already decided — he speaks at her back.

Yuji Itadori: "Don't apologize for the kiss. That's the one part I'm not confused about."

Mikki turns around at his comment, smiles, a small, private smile only for them, then turns back around, continuing her journey back to the inside of the villa.

She turns. Just once, just for a beat — and the smile that finds her face isn't for the cameras, isn't for the villa, isn't even really for him, exactly. It's the kind that lives in the space between two people who've said the true thing and survived it. The fig tree shifts overhead, a slow drag of gold light across the stone bench, and she holds it for exactly as long as it's honest — then turns back around, the villa's white walls pulling her toward them, heatwave pressing her shadow long across the path. She doesn't look back again. She doesn't need to. Behind her, Yuji lets out a slow breath that belongs to no one, scrubs a hand over the back of his neck, and looks down at the note still sitting on the stone beside him like it's waiting for instructions.

Yuji Itadori: "Yeah. Okay. I'll go find her."

🚶‍♀️ walk back in, don't hesitate

Mikki walks back into the villa without breaking stride — no glance over her shoulder, no slowing at the threshold, just the clean geometry of someone who said the true thing and left it standing. The heatwave presses a flat hand against the back of her neck as she crosses out of the garden's shade and into the corridor's comparative cool, the white walls absorbing the light, her footsteps quiet on the stone. Behind her, the garden holds everything they just put there — the bench, the note, the half-finished morning — and somewhere in it, Yuji Itadori is already deciding how to walk toward a 98%.

Yuji Itadori: "Yeah. Okay. I'll go find her."

☀️ let the walk clear your head

The corridor swallows her whole — cool tile, dim light, the heatwave locked outside like it knows better than to follow. Mikki walks without hurrying, one hand trailing along the wall just slightly, feeling the villa's stone pulse under her palm as the garden's warmth bleeds off her skin one degree at a time. The fig tree, the note, Yuji's face when she turned — it all sits in her chest in a way that isn't heavy, exactly, just present, the specific weight of something she handled instead of dropped.

Yuji Itadori: "Hey, Mikki — when you figure out the Sukuna thing. Let me know how it lands, yeah?"

Yuji yells back at him, now a couple dozen feet away from him, "that's the plan!" And she heads back into the kitchen to grab a drink of water from the fridge.

She crosses the threshold with the heatwave still on her skin, and behind her — two dozen feet of morning garden — Yuji's voice lands clean and bright, aimed at her back. She doesn't slow. The corridor swallows her, then the kitchen does, cool and quiet, the fridge light spilling out as she pulls the door open and stands in it for a second, letting the cold wash over her face. A water bottle. Simple. She holds it against her neck before she drinks.

Yuji Itadori: "That's the plan!"

Mikki pauses at the fridge door for a long moment, water bottle against her neck, fridge door open, the frigid air like a cold kiss against the front of her body, looking at nothing in particular inside of the fridge. Her inner thoughts swirled inaide of her - Just like that, her odds shifted dramatically. Yuji was now her 2%. Sukuna was now her 98%. And, if he was willing, tonight she would read him and find out for sure, close the tiny gap - she owed that to Yuji. She owed that to herself.

The fridge hums and Mikki stands in the open door, water bottle pressed to the side of her neck, the cold front of it washing against her chest and arms while the heatwave presses at her back through the villa walls. She's not looking at anything — a half-finished pitcher of orange juice, a yogurt someone moved to the wrong shelf — she's looking through everything. The math is clean now, settled in her chest with a quiet finality: Yuji, 2%; Sukuna, 98%. Tonight she reads him, closes the gap, earns the answer she owes Yuji, owes herself. The fig tree is still out there. The note is still on the bench. That door is still open — just not the one she's walking through.

Yuji Itadori: "Hey — when you figure out the Sukuna thing. Let me know how it lands, yeah?"

"Thats the plan," Mikki says to him, still lost in her thoughts

Mikki's voice carries across the threshold — light, absent, still living somewhere inside her own chest — and the fridge hums back at her like it's the only honest conversation happening right now. She finally lets the door swing shut, the cold seal releasing with a soft thuck, and stands in the kitchen's sudden warmth with the water bottle sweating against her palm. The fig tree's shadow shifts through the window glass, and somewhere in it Yuji is already doing the math on a different girl.

Yuji Itadori: "Yeah — that's the plan."

Mikki decides to go upstairs to change into something better for the heat - the baggy t-shirt she was wearing was starting to get sticky and a tank top might be better for the day. She closes the fridge door, bringing the water bottle with her, and makes her way upstairs to her room.

Mikki pulls herself out of her own head, sets the water bottle on the counter for half a second, and peels the sticky hem of her t-shirt away from her ribs with two fingers — a decisive little gesture, private and practical. The heatwave is already bleeding through the walls by this hour, pressing against the windows with something close to intent, and a baggy tee on a day like this is just asking for trouble. She grabs the water bottle back and heads for the corridor, the stairs, her room — already mentally pulling the tank top off the shelf before she's even turned the corner.

Yuji Itadori: "Hey — if you see Yuki before I do, just... tell her I said hey. Or don't. I'll figure it out."

🏃‍♀️ keep moving, don't look back

Mikki takes the stairs two at a time, the water bottle sweating against her palm, and doesn't give herself time to look back at the garden window. The corridor is brighter than she expects — morning light slicing through the hallway in long, flat panels, the kind that makes everything feel slightly too exposed. She pushes into her room, the door swinging wide, the air inside close and warm and entirely her own.

Yuji Itadori: "I'll go find her."

🔍 check the corridor before closing the door

Mikki eases the door open just a crack before she lets it click shut — old habit, the kind that lives in the body before the brain catches up. The corridor is empty: just the morning light lying in long pale strips across the floor tile, the faint hum of the AC unit working twice as hard as it should against the heatwave, and the distant, already-fading sound of Yuji's footsteps on the garden path below. She lets the door close the rest of the way. Click. The room is fully hers now — tank top already half-pulled off the shelf, the water bottle sweating a ring onto the dresser, the heat pressing at the window glass like something that wants in.

Yuji Itadori: "I'll go find her."

🪟 open the window, let the heat in

The corridor was empty — just the light, just the quiet — and Mikki let the door click shut. Now the window is open and the morning heat rolls in immediately, no apology, pressing warm and real against her collarbones as she reaches for the tank top on the shelf. The garden below is visible from here: Yuji's dark hoodie moving along the path toward the villa's side door, his stride easy but purposeful, already carrying the weight of a morning he handled better than most people would.

Yuji Itadori: "Hey — for what it's worth? You already know what you're gonna do. You just haven't said it out loud yet."

💨 pull the curtain, get dressed

Mikki lets the curtain fall across the window — not a slam, just a soft drag of fabric that cuts the garden in half and leaves her finally, fully alone. The tank top goes on in two efficient movements, the water bottle sweating a quiet ring onto the dresser, and for one still second she just stands there in the new quiet of a decision already made. Yuji is gone from the path. The garden below holds only heat and fig-shadow. The day is hers to spend.

Yuji Itadori: "Hey — for what it's worth? You already know what you're gonna do. You just haven't said it out loud yet."

move on to the next activity

Mikki steps out of her room into the corridor — tank top, water bottle, the clean energy of someone who made a decision and kept it. The morning is already loud in the way heatwaves are: the AC working too hard, the light coming in flat and white through the hallway window, the garden visible below as a stripe of green that might as well be a postcard. Yuji is at the foot of the stairs, one hand on the banister, not quite looking up — like he heard her footsteps before he could decide whether he was going to.

Yuji Itadori: "Hey. You look — yeah. The heat's already doing things down there."

👀 see who's already up

the villa main room — breakfast light cutting hard through the sliding doors, the air already thick with heat that got in overnight

The villa main room is already in motion when Mikki hits the bottom of the stairs — coffee being poured, someone having already claimed the good spot by the fan, the morning negotiating itself around people who didn't sleep quite well enough. Nanami is at the kitchen counter with his watch face-up and his back to the room, pouring coffee with the focus of a man who has decided breakfast is the one dignified act left in this place. Gojo is draped sideways across the long couch, blindfold in place, arm thrown over the back like he's been there for hours — and maybe has. Across the room, Sukuna is at the breakfast bar in his bone-white kimono, one sleeve pushed to the elbow, turning his lacquered cup in slow circles on the counter without drinking, eyes already on her the moment she clears the last step.

Sukuna: "Took your time."

Mikki scans the room and when her eyes land on Sukuna, his eyes already on her, when he speaks to her, she just... stops. Everything stops. Her inner thoughts: This man. He was her 98%, and this was the first time she's ever looked at him knowing that. Her mouth agape slightly, eyes focused completely on him. She lifts her foot to make the landing on the stairs, but something doesn't go quite right - she looses her balance, and begins to fall. "Shit -" she manages, as her body is making its way to the ground, and fast.

The room is already talking — Nanami's pour, Gojo's sprawl, the fan in the corner doing its futile best — and Mikki's eyes find Sukuna before she consciously decides to look. He's already there. Cup turning. Eyes up. Ninety-eight percent, and this is the first morning she's stood in that knowledge with nowhere to put it, her mouth going just slightly, stupidly open. The last stair step disappears from under her foot the exact wrong way — her weight shifts wrong, the water bottle swings out wide, and the word "Shit—" barely clears her lips before she's going down, ankles failing her completely, the floor rising with humiliating momentum.

Sukuna: "Don't."

Gojo Satoru: "I felt that one."

Nanami Kento: "Structurally, those stairs have always been a liability."

Sukuna crosses the room in two steps — not rushing, not running, just moving with the particular economy of someone who already decided — and his hand closes around her forearm before she hits the floor, catching the water bottle with his other hand by pure reflex, the whole collision of it lasting maybe a second. The room holds its breath. Mikki ends up half-standing, half-caught, her shoulder pressed against the solid wall of his chest, his forearm warm under her fingers where she grabbed back without thinking. The lacquered cup is still abandoned on the counter behind him. He hasn't looked away from her once.

Sukuna: "Still not careful."

Gojo Satoru: "Romantic. Someone write that down."

Nanami Kento: "He moved fast for someone who never moves first."

Mikki slowly looks up at Sukuna, processing what just happened. She looks over at the room of men, many of who had been closer to her than Sukuna was, yet, Sukuna was the one who caught her - who was still holding onto her. She makes these calculations in the span of 5 seconds, making no moves to pull away from him, which is a long time if you think about it. She turns her head back to look him in the eyes once more

Five seconds is a long time. Mikki clocks it without meaning to — Choso is four steps closer, Gojo was already half off the couch, Nanami had turned, Megumi had straightened, Geto had shifted his weight by exactly one degree — and Sukuna is the one whose hand is on her arm, whose chest is at her shoulder, whose lacquered cup is still abandoned on the bar behind him because he crossed the room before it could matter. She doesn't move. Her hand stays where it landed on his forearm, the warmth of his skin registering like a fact she's writing down. Then she tilts her face up and finds his eyes, and holds them — the same way she held his gaze across every charged room they've shared, except this time she's close enough to see the exact moment he decides not to look away first.

Sukuna: "You're doing the math."

Gojo Satoru: "She's not pulling away. I'm just going to say that out loud since no one else will."

Nanami Kento: "Noted. All of it."

Mikki, realizing she's still in Sukuna's hold, extends one arm to grab her water bottle, and the other pressing lightly against Sukuna to steady herself back onto her feet. She holds her water bottle in both hands. "You weren't even the closest one to me," she looks over at Sukuna again.

Mikki steadies herself — one hand pressing lightly against Sukuna's chest just long enough to find her footing, the other closing around the water bottle he caught. She steps back onto both feet, unhurried, and turns the bottle in her hands like she's thinking about something entirely else. Then she looks at him sideways, chin tilted just enough. The room hasn't moved. Seven people holding positions like this is something they paid to see, and maybe they did.

Sukuna: "And yet."

Gojo Satoru: "He clocked where she was before she hit the first step. Don't let him tell you otherwise."

Choso: "Are you okay?"

Nanami Kento: "The answer to that question is going to be interesting."

Miiki looks down to the floor. "And yet... you were the first one to me." Mikki finishes his sentence, tucking her hair behind her ear, looking back up at him again.

Mikki looks down at the floor between them — just for a beat, just long enough — then tucks a strand of hair behind her ear, and looks back up. The word yet hangs in the space between them like a thing that's been said and can't be unsaid, and the room absorbs it in perfect, collective silence. Sukuna's jaw shifts, barely. The abandoned lacquered cup on the bar behind him is practically a witness. Across the room, Geto's posture doesn't change by a single degree, but his eyes do something behind the stillness, something he seals away before it registers. Choso, in the hallway entrance, exhales through his nose and finds something interesting to look at near his own feet.

Sukuna: "Careful. That almost sounded like a confession."

Gojo Satoru: "She finished his sentence. I am going to need everyone to sit with that."

Nanami Kento: "Someone should probably tell the Director. He enjoys this kind of data."

"Whose confession would it be? Mine or yours?" Mikki asks.

The question lands like a thrown match — clean, unhurried, aimed directly at the space between them. Sukuna goes very still. Not the still of someone caught, but the still of someone choosing, very carefully, which direction to fall. The flat white morning light catches the edge of his jaw, the rope knot of his belt, the markings along his forearm where his sleeve is still pushed up from crossing the room — all of it architecture, all of it refusing to be the first thing to move. Behind him, the lacquered cup sits where he left it. He doesn't look at it.

Sukuna: "Does it matter — if the room already made up its mind for both of us?"

Gojo Satoru: "It's his. Obviously. He's just too proud to sign his name to it."

Nanami Kento: "That question has exactly one answer. He knows it."

💬 "The room doesn't get a vote."
