Megumi stays very still with it, the way he processes anything that costs him something; his jaw shifts once, and then he breathes out slowly through his nose, and the garden holds them both in its damp quiet. He stands after a moment — unhurried, the dark button-down falling back into place over his forearms — and when he looks at her, it's direct, the chain catching a pale edge of the villa's amber light, and whatever he was going to do with the answer is already folding itself into the part of him he doesn't show people.
