Before the Punchline Lands

Rikki and Gojo's date wound down on the gravel path under a cool, clear sky — three kisses, a selfie, and a 'hopeful optimist' saved to her camera roll. She walked inside on her own terms, leaving hi…

Day 1 — Morning · the villa main room

The common room sprawls gold in the morning light — marble counters, overstuffed couches, a view of the pool that looks like a screensaver. It is obscenely beautiful. It is going to be a warzone.

Gojo Satoru is already occupying the center of the room like he was placed there by production. Sunglasses on. Indoors. He tilts his head toward no one in particular.

Gojo Satoru: "Day one and I'm already the most interesting thing in this building. Statistically, nothing changes from here."

At the kitchen counter, Geto Suguru sets down two mugs with the quiet efficiency of a man who arrived early on purpose. He doesn't announce it. He just does it.

Geto Suguru: "The coffee's arabica. Someone in this house has taste — I needed to know if it was me."

Nanami Kento is at the far end of the kitchen island with a newspaper. An actual newspaper. He turns a page without looking up.

Nanami Kento: "I give the chaos three days before it becomes completely predictable."

Yuji Itadori drops onto the couch with the full-body abandon of someone who has never been self-conscious once in his life. He's holding a mug in both hands and grinning at the ceiling.

Yuji Itadori: "I genuinely can't believe this is real. Like — we're actually HERE. Does everyone feel that? The air feels different."

Choso is near the sliding doors to the terrace, watching the pool like it owes him something. He has already made tea for himself and left a second cup on the ledge beside him, unclaimed.

Choso: "The light's good this morning. That counts for something."

Megumi Fushiguro sits apart at a small table, arms crossed, expression somewhere between reluctant and resigned. He's looking at his phone but the screen is off.

Megumi Fushiguro: "I'm choosing not to have opinions about anything before breakfast."

Toji Fushiguro is leaning in the doorframe between the common room and the hall — not quite in, not quite out. He hasn't touched his coffee. The cup just sits on the table nearest him, going cold.

Toji Fushiguro: "..."

Sukuna is on the far couch, one arm draped over the back, looking at the room like it's mildly beneath him. He picks up an orange from the fruit bowl and begins peeling it without asking whose it was.

🛋️ drop onto the couch near Yuji

Morgan drops onto the couch beside Yuji with the kind of casual confidence that makes three different men look up from whatever they were pretending to do. Yuji's whole face rearranges itself — the grin he was already wearing somehow gets bigger, which should be mathematically impossible. Across the room, a beat of silence passes through Gojo like a cold breeze, and his sunglasses don't quite hide the way his jaw shifts.

Yuji Itadori: "Okay — OKAY, hi, you're real, this is real, I have been waiting to talk to you since literally the second I walked in."

Gojo Satoru: "Bold move, choosing the puppy corner first."

Sukuna: "She sat down. Not proposed. Calm yourselves."

I turn to Gojo and retort "looks like somebody is a little too bothered over there. You know, theres a gorgeous pool just outside. Might do you best to go cool off for a bit."

The line lands clean — and the whole room hears it. Gojo pulls his sunglasses down just enough to stare at Morgan over the rims, the cocky tilt of his mouth doing something complicated. It's the face of a man who got hit and is deciding whether to admit it hurt. Yuji makes a sound beside her that is only technically a laugh — more like delight escaping through a very small crack — and turns to watch what happens next like this is the best television he has ever witnessed. Across the room, Nanami turns a page. He does not look up. But the corner of his mouth does something.

Gojo Satoru: "Cool off. Right. Because watching you ignore literally every other person in the room to sit next to him — that's not getting to me even a little."

Sukuna: "He said 'even a little.' Adorable."

Yuji Itadori: "I feel like I should say something but honestly I'm just really enjoying this."

"You know what Gojo, youre right. Where are my manners?" I laugh and continued,"Hello everyone, I hope you all are doing well. I want to say to everyone, thank you for the time you have committed to spending here for our extended vacation. I hope you all are looking forward to it as much as I am." My eyes scan the room, locking eyes with each man as I continue my speech,"I know we will be making some wonderful memories together here," and finally, I lock eyes with Gojo, "and if you're lucky, those memories could last a lifetime." I then turn to Yuji, "your chances increase the more polite you are - just saying" i coyly smile.

Morgan pivots from the pool-cool devastation like she was never rattled to begin with — the shift is so clean, so deliberate, that the room actually recalibrates around her. She stands slightly, letting her gaze sweep the room like a slow tide, voice warm and unhurried, and every man in the villa goes quiet in the way people go quiet when they realize they are being addressed by someone who knows exactly what she's doing. The final look she lands on Gojo before turning back to Yuji is precise — calibrated — the kind of parting shot that doesn't need volume to hit.

Gojo Satoru: "Lifetime. She said lifetime. While looking at me. I'm fine. I'm completely fine."

Nanami Kento: "Diplomatic, composed, and already running the room. Day one. Impressive."

Sukuna: "The polite speech. The eye contact tour. The parting line aimed at Gojo like a dart. She came prepared."

Yuji Itadori: "Okay first of all my chances are NOT the issue here — I have great manners — second of all you're genuinely terrifying and I mean that in the best way."

"OH Yuji, I know youre polite, I can already tell...." My eyes dart to Gojo, giving him one last chance to realize that stab was meant for him. "So - is anybody hungry? I dont know about you all, but i was so busy getting ready this morning I havent even eaten breakfast yet. Why dont we all make something together?"

The word "polite" lands with surgical precision — sweet on the surface, aimed below the belt — and Morgan's gaze cuts to Gojo for exactly one second before sliding away like it was never there at all. That one second is enough. Gojo's jaw tightens almost imperceptibly; the sunglasses finally come off. Then she pivots to breakfast like she didn't just draw blood, and the room exhales — a collective, slightly dazzled breath — before it starts moving toward the kitchen with the eager shuffle of men who just found a reason to be useful. Choso is already at the refrigerator before anyone else has stood up, pulling it open with quiet, unhurried purpose.

Yuji Itadori: "I have been described as many things but 'polite' is genuinely top five, I'll take it."

Gojo Satoru: "Breakfast. Together. Sure. I'm an excellent cook, by the way — in case that's the metric now."

Choso: "I've got eggs, I know what I'm doing with them, and I don't need to announce it."

Nanami Kento: "A communal kitchen on day one. This should produce fascinating data."

Sukuna: "I'll eat whatever isn't made by him."

I make my way to the sliding doors first, and point to Choso's extra cup of tea. "Does this tea belong to anyone?" I ask towards the group of men in the kitchen.

Morgan cuts through the kitchen noise and moves toward the sliding glass doors with easy, unhurried purpose — the kind of walk that makes the room track her without meaning to. The terrace morning light catches the abandoned cup on the ledge, still steaming faintly, and she turns back toward the kitchen with the question hanging in the air like a held breath. Choso goes very still at the open refrigerator, one hand resting on the door, a carton of eggs in the other — he doesn't say anything immediately, just watches her with the particular stillness of someone who placed a bet and is waiting to find out if it paid. Yuji leans forward from the couch, elbows on knees, eyes moving between Morgan and Choso with barely concealed delight.

Choso: "I made it this morning. Wasn't sure if anyone else would want it — so I left it out."

Gojo Satoru: "He made a mystery cup of tea and waited for someone to claim it. That is the most calculated thing I have seen before 9am."

Sukuna: "It worked, didn't it."

Yuji Itadori: "Choso. Bro. That's actually really smooth and I'm a little upset I didn't think of it first."

"Very thoughtful, Choso..." i smile at him, take the cup carefully, place it to my lips, take a sip, draw a long content sigh, and say "delicious!" I make my way to the kitchen and ask the group "so, looks like wveryone has claimed a job already - how can I help?"

Morgan lifts the cup with both hands, brings it to her lips, and takes one slow, deliberate sip — the kind that makes a room hold its breath. The sigh that follows is soft and genuine, and the word delicious lands in the kitchen like a small stone dropped into still water. Choso sets the carton of eggs down on the refrigerator shelf with a careful click, the tips of his ears going faintly pink, and he exhales through his nose like a man who just survived something. Morgan pivots into the kitchen on the question — how can I help — easy and warm, the cup still in her hands, and every man near a counter suddenly remembers he has a job to do.

Choso: "You can stand there and keep doing that, actually. It's helping."

Gojo Satoru: "She could chop something. I'll supervise. Closely."

Nanami Kento: "She could set the table — a task no one has thought of because everyone's been too busy auditioning."

Yuji Itadori: "I can make toast! I'm excellent at toast. That's my contribution. Morgan, do you want toast?"

I place a finger to my lips and elicit a "hmmm... well, setting the table wont take very much time at all, I can do that when everyone else is just about finished up with their tasks... Gojo, you look like you need the most help right now. You've just been standing there with that knife - do you need help using it?" I shoot a playful smile at him as I make my way over towards him. I get out a cutting board, and place some raw bacon on the board. I turn to Yuji,"I would LOVE some toast, thank you!"

The knife comment lands exactly how Morgan intends it to — Gojo's hand stalls mid-air, spatula forgotten, the very picture of a man caught performing competence he doesn't quite have. The cutting board hits the counter with a clean crack and she starts laying bacon strips with the unhurried ease of someone who has done this a thousand times and knows everyone is watching. Across the kitchen, Geto Suguru picks up his mug and sets it down just a fraction slower than necessary, and the ghost of something appreciative crosses his face before he smooths it back to neutral. From the couch, Yuji's head swings toward the toast situation with renewed commitment — two slices already in, another two queued up, executed with the focused pride of a man who has been given a direct assignment.

Gojo Satoru: "I was building up to it. Strategically. The knife has to be at the right angle — it's a whole thing."

Nanami Kento: "He's been holding it for six minutes. I counted."

Yuji Itadori: "MORGAN. Two slices or four — and don't say two, the correct answer is four."

Geto Suguru: "She picked up the knife he wasn't using and started working. In front of everyone. That was for you, Gojo — did you catch it?"

I laugh genuinely at the audacity of Geto's comment. "I dont know, Geto, Gojo seems awfully confident... " I turn my head to Gojo, body still facing the cutting board, knife still in my hand, prepared to cut the bacon, "Care to show me how its done?" My eyes drop to a sultry hidden gaze as I extend the invitation, my body language implying he can stand behind me and guide my hand as I cut

The invitation hangs in the air — quiet, specific, and devastating in its implications. Morgan's eyes do the work her words don't, dropping just below eye level before returning to the cutting board, the knife loose and easy in her hand. Gojo goes very still for exactly one second — the stillness of a man whose entire operating system just encountered a new input — and then something shifts behind his expression, the performance dropping a half-inch to reveal something that might, under laboratory conditions, be called genuine. He sets the spatula down on the counter with a slow, deliberate click. From the couch, Sukuna stops pretending to inspect the orange peel. Megumi puts his phone face-down.

Gojo Satoru: "Since you asked so nicely."

Sukuna: "This is either going to be very impressive or completely humiliating. Either way, I'm comfortable."

Yuji Itadori: "The toast is ready — I'm just going to — yeah, I'll just set it right here and also stay very close to this counter."

💫 let him step in close — hold your ground

Gojo closes the distance without hesitation — one hand settling at Morgan's hip with just enough pressure to announce itself, the other wrapping around her knife hand from behind, his chest a breath away from her back. The morning light catches the line of his jaw as he leans in, his chin near her temple, and the kitchen goes entirely, beautifully quiet — the kind of quiet where you can hear Choso set the egg carton down with too much care. Morgan holds her ground exactly as she meant to: weight balanced, spine straight, the knife steady in her grip while Gojo's fingers close around hers — and it's unclear, from any angle in the room, who is actually guiding whom.

Gojo Satoru: "Relax your wrist. You're holding it like you're trying to win something."

Yuji Itadori: "The toast is right here. I made four. Someone should really — okay nobody is looking at the toast."

Sukuna: "He put his hand on her hip before he touched the knife. Everyone noticed. No one's going to say it."

Geto Suguru: "I was wrong about the confidence — I'll admit that."

💋 lean back — just slightly

Morgan shifts her weight back — just slightly, barely an inch — and the pressure of it lands against Gojo's chest like a statement. His breath catches, audible in the dead-quiet kitchen, and his hand on her hip tightens a fraction before he catches himself. The knife stays exactly where it is, neither of them cutting anything, and the bacon on the board has been thoroughly forgotten by everyone in the room including the people whose job it was to cook it. Across the kitchen, Choso closes the refrigerator slowly — the soft magnetic click of it the only sound — and his jaw sets in a way that has nothing to do with eggs.

Gojo Satoru: "You're going to make me drop this knife."

Sukuna: "He's not cutting anything. He hasn't been cutting anything for two minutes."

Nanami Kento: "The bacon will keep. Presumably."

Yuji Itadori: "Toast. Is. Ready. Someone. Please. Look. At. The. Toast."

"So.... are you going to make the cut?" I dart my eyes to his, now only inches away from my face. I become aware that he now has direct line of sight down my v neck shirt, which games slightly, providing a full view of cleavage and the bottom of my bra. I pause to closely observe his reaction to me.

The question drops into the half-inch of air between Morgan's face and Gojo's like a lit match — quiet, specific, and pointed directly at his ego. She tilts her chin up to find his eyes, and he's right there, close enough that the shift in her neckline becomes an immediate, unavoidable fact of geometry. Gojo Satoru, who has been running the same confident script since the moment he walked into this villa, does three things in very rapid succession: his eyes drop, they return to hers, and the hand at her hip goes absolutely, tellingly still. The smirk he pulls back up is a half-second slower than usual — and every person in this kitchen clocked the gap.

Gojo Satoru: "...Yeah. I'm going to make the cut."

Sukuna: "First time I've seen him need a second to find the words."

Nanami Kento: "The bacon is still raw. I want to name that, for the record."

Toji Fushiguro: "Hm."

"Well.... im waiting." I patiently hold my ground, the sides of my mouth creeping into a gentle, knowing smile.

Morgan holds perfectly, completely still — the knife flat on the board, that slow smile curling at the corners of her mouth like she has all the time in the world and is enjoying every second he doesn't. Gojo Satoru stares at her for a beat that lasts about three years, the morning sun cutting across the space between their faces, and then — visibly, undeniably — he swallows. His hand leaves her hip. Not a retreat exactly. More like a man resetting before he does something that actually gets aired in prime time. The whole kitchen exhales without moving.

Gojo Satoru: "You're — yeah. Okay. You win this one."

Sukuna: "He tapped out. Write it down."

Nanami Kento: "Bacon. Someone should really cook the bacon."

Yuji Itadori: "I have literally been holding this toast plate for four minutes — Morgan, please, I made it for you specifically."

I shrug and sigh. "Thats a shame, Gojo, I was looking forward to being shown how its done. I really thought you were a master of the knife, but everyone has their off days I guess." I take a moment to chop the bacon. I turn back to him, "maybe you can at least cook it for us?" I smile and turn to Yuji. "Thank you for being so patient with my attention." I place my hands on his cheeks and plant a small, gentle kiss on his forehead before taking the toast

Morgan slides the knife through the bacon with clean, unhurried strokes — four even cuts, the board barely moving — and the sound of it is somehow the most devastating thing that's happened in this kitchen all morning. She pivots, the finished strips at her elbow, and Gojo is standing exactly where she left him: reset, watching, running a very private calculation behind his eyes. When she turns to Yuji, the room does a subtle but total reorientation — like a camera pull — and Yuji, who has been holding that toast plate with the focused sincerity of a man guarding a relic, goes very, very still as her hands come up to frame his face. The kiss lands on his forehead, soft and deliberate, and his entire body seems to forget what gravity is for approximately one second.

Gojo Satoru: "Off days. Sure. That's what we're calling it."

Yuji Itadori: "I — yeah. The toast. It's yours. You can have all of it. Every piece."

Sukuna: "He got forehead-kissed and nearly dropped the plate. Incredible. Truly incredible television."

Nanami Kento: "The bacon is ready to be cooked. Gojo — you were apparently volunteered."

I say to the room "So, whats the timing on breakfast? If ita going to be ready soon, I can set the table."

Morgan's question lands in the kitchen like a stone dropping into still water — practical, easy, completely in control — and the room reorients around it. Nanami is already reaching for the stack of plates at the end of the island before she's finished the sentence, sliding them across the marble with quiet efficiency. At the stove, Gojo's spatula hits the pan with slightly more force than bacon requires, the sizzle filling the silence where his usual comeback would've been, and the morning light through the glass catches the set of his jaw — the particular stillness of a man recalibrating. From the doorframe, Toji watches Morgan move toward the table with the toast plate, and something behind his eyes shifts — barely, just once — like a decision being made and immediately filed away.

Nanami Kento: "Ten minutes, give or take. I'll start the eggs."

Gojo Satoru: "Table's in the dining room. Second door on the left — in case you hadn't found it yet."

Choso: "I'll help. I know where the extra napkins are."

Geto Suguru: "Someone should tell the Director breakfast is actually happening. He'll want footage."

"Perfect," i respond, looking straight at Nanami to show im responsing to him. I ignore Gojo's comment. "But I thought Choso was making the eggs?" I tilt my head to the side to look at Choso.

Morgan's eyes land on Nanami with clean, deliberate precision — the kind of eye contact that's its own kind of punctuation — and then she tilts her head toward Choso with a soft, genuine curiosity that makes the question feel like an invitation rather than a correction. Choso's expression does something private and complicated: the small surprise of being named, being seen, warmth moving across his face before he's decided what to do with it. Nanami, for his part, sets down the carton of eggs with the precise unhurriedness of a man who is choosing not to react and doing it very successfully — except for the single beat where his eyes cut to Gojo at the stove, then back to his eggs, and his mouth does the barest, driest thing at the corners.

Choso: "I was — yes. I have them. I was just making room for Nanami to pull plates first."

Nanami Kento: "By all means. The eggs were always yours."

Gojo Satoru: "The bacon, for the record, is going to be perfect. Just so everyone knows."

Yuji Itadori: "Should I — I can butter the toast? If that helps? I'm very good at buttering."

I look around the room at everyone else "so... how is everyone else contributing to breakfast? Id love to hear what everyone is working on!"

Rikki's question opens the room like a window thrown wide — and for exactly one suspended second, eight men reckon with the fact that she is looking at all of them, expecting a real answer. Megumi's phone, face-down on the side table, stays exactly where it is, but his eyes come up. Toji shifts his weight in the doorframe — the first voluntary movement he's made since the kitchen opened — and the morning light catches the line of his jaw as he says nothing, which is somehow louder than anything else in the room. From the couch, Sukuna's gaze drags over the group with the slow, particular disdain of a man taking attendance, and Geto uncrosses his arms at the far counter with the unhurried ease of someone who has been waiting for precisely this question.

Yuji Itadori: "Buttering the toast! I said it earlier and I meant it, and I have been doing it this whole time, look —"

Sukuna: "Watching. Someone has to make sure Gojo doesn't burn it."

Geto Suguru: "I've been locating the juice glasses. Quietly. Without being asked."

Megumi Fushiguro: "I set the table. Ten minutes ago. Nobody noticed."

👀 hold Toji's silence accountable

The question floats over the whole room with effortless expectation — and every answer comes in fast, overlapping, almost comically eager to be seen — except one. Rikki's gaze finds Toji in the doorframe with the calm precision of someone who has been patient long enough, and it stays there, steady and unbothered, the way a question mark just sits on a page and waits. He's been leaning against the wood like he's holding it up, arms crossed, saying absolutely nothing — and now the whole room has clocked it, because she has. The silence between them is a living thing, and she lets it breathe.

Gojo Satoru: "The bacon, as previously stated, is a contribution of enormous personal sacrifice."

Toji Fushiguro: "I unlocked the back terrace doors this morning. Aired the place out."

Nanami Kento: "That does explain why it smells like something other than eight men in a closed space."

I chuckle at Nanami's comment,"that does make sense!" Then nod to Toji, "The terrace - smart." I then walk over to Megumi and place my hand on his shoulder, rubbing it ever-so-gently,"And thank you, Megumi, for setting the table

Rikki's laugh at Nanami's line is quick and genuine — the kind that makes the room feel lighter just by happening — and she tips her chin at Toji once, clean and unbothered, the acknowledgment landing without ceremony before she's already moving. She crosses to Megumi at the side table with the easy confidence of someone who notices things other people don't bother to, her hand settling on his shoulder with a warmth that's specific and deliberate — not a performance, just a fact — and the gentle press of her thumb is small enough that only he feels it. Megumi goes very still under her hand, the way a person does when they've been waiting to be seen and weren't prepared for it to actually happen; across the room, Gojo's spatula slows its rhythm exactly one beat, and Nanami turns back to the eggs with the careful neutrality of a man choosing not to have an opinion.

Megumi Fushiguro: "It needed to be done."

Yuji Itadori: "I would have helped, Megumi, you should have said something —"

Gojo Satoru: "He didn't want help. He wanted credit. There's a difference."
