Rikki and Gojo's date wound down on the gravel path under a cool, clear sky — three kisses, a selfie, and a 'hopeful optimist' saved to her camera roll. She walked inside on her own terms, leaving hi…

Day 6 — Morning · the villa kitchen

the villa kitchen — grey morning light filtering through the windows, the smell of coffee already brewing

The dress comes off, the night folds up, and Rikki sleeps the deep, boneless sleep of someone who narrowly avoided saying something true. By the time she pads downstairs in the morning, the villa is already half-awake — the overcast sky pressing flat and soft against the windows, the kitchen warm with the smell of coffee and something toasted. Yuji is already at the counter, back to her, both hands wrapped around a mug like he's been there a while, and the set of his shoulders says he slept on that unanswered word the same way she did. On the kitchen island, propped against the fruit bowl where she'll see it, is a folded slip of paper — no name on the outside, no handwriting she'd miss.

Yuji Itadori: "Morning. Coffee's fresh — I made enough for everyone, which I'm aware is a character trait."

Gojo Satoru: "It was already there when I came down. No idea who put it there."

"Goodnight, Yuji." Rikki looks back at him and smiles one more time to finish the night. She makes her way back to the villa, already making plans to get dressed out of her date outfit and sneak away to see Gojo.

Rikki slips back through the villa's glass door with her heels in one hand, the night folding off her shoulders as she moves down the hallway — already calculating, already half-smiling at the thought of a certain white-haired idiot who is probably very deliberately pretending not to have waited up. She changes fast, trades the dress for something casual, and pads back toward the kitchen with the specific energy of someone who has decided on a person and isn't going to announce it. The overcast morning light does nothing to dim it — she rounds the corner and Gojo is right where she left him, elbow on the counter, and the way his eyes find hers in under a second says he already knew she was coming back.

Gojo Satoru: "Took you long enough. I was about to drink your coffee."

Yuji Itadori: "Morning. Coffee's fresh — I made enough for everyone, which I'm aware is a character trait."

Nanami Kento: "It's overcast. Someone's going to suggest a pool day anyway. They always do."

"Hold on... morning?! What time is it?" Rikki asked incredulously. She couldn't have stayed out on that date with Yuji the ENTIRE night... there was no way!

The question hits the kitchen like a dropped pan — Rikki's eyes sweep to the window, and sure enough, the light outside is the flat, grey weight of actual morning, not the close-of-night blue she left Yuji under. Her brain does the math in real time and comes up completely empty. Somehow the rooftop dance, the unanswered word, the note folded against the fruit bowl — all of it stretched across a night she didn't notice burning. Every head in the kitchen turns toward her, and Gojo, who has not looked away from her since she rounded the corner, finally lets the smallest smile break through — not smug, just delighted in the way only he gets to be.

Nanami Kento: "Seven forty-two. There's coffee if you want to pretend that answers your question."

Gojo Satoru: "She walked back in like she had a plan. I'm very curious what the plan was."

Yuji Itadori: "To be fair, time kind of stopped working after midnight. I didn't notice either."

"Does time on this island magically speed up randomly or something? Because it was JUST dark out." Rikki panicked, legitimately freaking out but trying to not be too obvious about it. She needed to remain in control. "Right? Am I the only one who experienced that?" She asked one last question before deciding that if no one agreed with her, she would let it go.

Rikki's incredulity lands in the kitchen like a stone dropped in still water — and every single person in the room finds somewhere very deliberate to look that is not her face. Yuji lifts his mug a half-inch higher. Megumi turns a page he was definitely already done with. The overcast light sits flat against the windows, unbothered, offering zero alibi. The silence stretches one beat too long before the kitchen collectively, silently, votes to let her have this one.

Gojo Satoru: "Totally. Island time. Very well-documented phenomenon. Nothing to do with you specifically."

Nanami Kento: "You're not the only one who experienced it. You're just the only one surprised by it."

Yuji Itadori: "In my defense, I also lost track. So."

Choso: "There's coffee. It helps. Probably."

Rikki takes a beat to think. So, she was out with Yuji the entire night. And the whole group knows. She pulled an all-nighter, and that was going to SUCK. Bad. A good night's rest was one of the most important tools Rikki used to stay sharp - and without it, she could lose her edge today. And now with Yuki in the picture... that wasn't good. Not good at all. Not to mention, she didn't hang out one-on-one with Gojo last night like she promised him. Shit. She took her coffee, pressing it against her lips quickly like it was a force of life - to be fair, it kind of was - and tried to sneak a look at Gojo to try and get a read on him to see if he was upset with her or not.

The kitchen gives Rikki exactly nothing — no dissent, no rescue, no alternate timeline where she didn't just lose a full night to a rooftop and a boy who can't stop watching her. She reaches for the coffee like it's medical equipment, pressing the warm mug to her lips before she's even properly stopped moving, and the first sip hits her bloodstream with the quiet urgency of a system reboot. Over the rim, she cuts her eyes toward Gojo — just a glance, fast enough to be deniable, but the kitchen is very small and every single person in it is very awake. He's already looking at her. He's been looking at her. The expression on his face isn't upset — it's something more specific than that, something he's not bothering to arrange into anything else, and it lands in her chest with the particular weight of a thing she's going to have to address.

Nanami Kento: "For what it's worth, you're not the only one. You're just the only one who needed it confirmed out loud."

Yuji Itadori: "I genuinely did not notice either. The time thing is real — I'll back you on that."

Gojo Satoru: "No, she's right. Completely. Time is broken on this island. Nothing to do with anyone in particular."

Toji Fushiguro: "You look exhausted."

She was pretty sure they were all just trying to make her feel better, which was a little embarrassing, but she appreciated their kindness. "Well, that's a relief, i was beginning to think i was going crazy." She closed the topic. After looking at Gojo, she clocked his expression as not upset, but disappointed. Which was somehow way, way worse. She owed him big time and she knew it. Lost in her thoughts, she took the last swig of her coffee and immediately made her way to the coffee maker to pour a second cup.

The kitchen accepts Rikki's verdict — topic closed, time functionally broken, nothing to see here — and the collective exhale is almost audible. She sets her empty mug down and turns toward the coffee maker, and the small, domestic act of pouring a second cup is the only thing in the room with any grace right now. The overcast light sits flat against the window above the sink, and in it she catches Gojo's reflection — not angry, not running a line — just watching her with the particular expression of a person who had a plan for last night and is very quietly recalibrating what that means about today.

Nanami Kento: "Going crazy would require a baseline to deviate from. You're fine."

Gojo Satoru: "Good. You're not crazy. You just lost six hours. Completely different thing."

Yuji Itadori: "For what it's worth, same. Completely."

😬 catch his eye and mouth 'I owe you'

Rikki catches Gojo's eye in the kitchen window's reflection — the only available line of sight that doesn't require her to turn all the way around and make it obvious — and mouths it slow and clear: I owe you. The reflection gives her back his face in the grey overcast light, and she watches something shift in it — not absolution, not yet, but the very edge of it, the specific look of a person deciding whether to let you off the hook or make you earn it first. He holds her gaze in the glass one beat longer than comfortable, then the corner of his mouth tips up — just barely, just enough to register — and he picks up his coffee mug with the deliberate calm of a man who has decided to collect on that debt at a time of his own choosing.

Gojo Satoru: "I'm going to want that in writing."

Nanami Kento: "Speaking of which — the Director just sent something through. Afternoon. All of us. Outside."

Yuji Itadori: "Outside as in — a task? Today?"

"Thanks, guys. I'm really fortunate to have a whole cheerleading team right here, doing their best to convince me I'm normal" Rikki chuckles while looking down at her coffee again. After this cup she needed to do one more thing to take care of herself. She downed the remains of the second cup, muttering "Thanks for making the coffee" before bolting up the stairs

Rikki's laugh lands like a full exhale — warm and self-deprecating and real, the kind that only comes out when a person is genuinely embarrassed and has decided to own it anyway. She drains the second cup in one clean motion and sets it on the counter with a decisive little click, already pivoting toward the stairs with the energy of someone who has exactly one item on her to-do list and intends to sprint through it. The kitchen watches her go — Gojo's corner-of-the-mouth smile holding until she's fully through the doorway, Yuji raising his mug in something that functions as a send-off, Toji still against the wall with an expression that could mean anything and probably means something specific.

Choso: "Sleep is a form of fighting back. Good call."

Megumi Fushiguro: "She said thanks for the coffee. Nobody made the coffee."

Gojo Satoru: "I'll collect when she comes back down."

Nanami Kento: "Director's confirmed the afternoon. Outside. Wear something you can move in — that's a direct quote."

As Rikki makes her way up the stairs, she hears Nanami's voice faintly, making the comment about the director's directions. Afternoon was the soonest they were obligated to do anything? Then maybe she DID have enough time to recuperate enough. She quickly ran back downstairs and peered her head around the corner "got it Nanami, thanks. And Yuji, you may want to also get some sleep." She addressed them separately, then took a beat to look at Gojo, shooting him an expression that she hope landed like an I'm sorry and I know I fucked up. She darted back to her room, closed the room door behind her, and began to strip - planning a nice shower before a couple-hour nap.

Rikki's head reappears around the corner of the stairwell like she never really left — just pivoted — and the kitchen recalibrates around her in a half-second, everyone clocking her face at the same time. She finds Yuji first, then Gojo, and the look she lands on him is not a line, not a performance — it's something quieter and more specific than that, a whole apology compressed into two seconds of eye contact, the kind that says I know before he has a chance to ask. He holds it. Doesn't let her off the hook too fast, but he doesn't make her stand there in it either — just one small tilt of his head, almost imperceptible, the barest version of we're fine, go. Then she's gone, footsteps quick on the stairs, the sound of her door pulling shut carrying faintly down to the kitchen below.

Nanami Kento: "Sleep is not a luxury in this context. It's operational."

Yuji Itadori: "Yeah — yeah, I might actually do that."

Gojo Satoru: "She said she owes me. In writing. I'm collecting that."

Toji Fushiguro: "Let her sleep first."

Rikki steps into the shower, feeling the hot water sting her skin. Oooooh yes.... thats nice. Her muscles relax, her mind quiets - when water is this hot, beating down on you, its almost like a full body massage... Rikki squints a dollop of shampoo onto her palm and begins to run it through her long locks, letting her mind empty so she can fill it with what she needs to later. When she finishes up, she gets dressed in some shorts and a tank top and crawls into her glorious bed, which felt nicer than usual. She grabs her phone to set an alarm, giving herself enough sleep to get up an hour before this afternoon's challenge. Before she drifts to sleep.

her villa room — steam curling under the bathroom door, hot water hissing against tile

The shower does exactly what she needed it to — the heat drives straight into the tension sitting between her shoulder blades and dissolves it, and for a few minutes her brain goes completely blank in the best possible way, just steam and the sound of water and the specific luxury of not being looked at. She rinses the shampoo out slow, tilts her head back, lets it run. When she finally steps out and towels off and pulls on shorts and a tank top, her body has already started its negotiations with sleep — by the time she's crawled under the covers the overcast light coming through the window is the softest grey, and the bed is embarrassingly comfortable, and she barely has to think before she's setting an alarm on her phone: enough time to get up, get ready, and walk into whatever the afternoon has waiting for her at full capacity. The last thing she's aware of, before sleep takes it, is the gentle pressure of the pillow against her cheek — and somewhere, very faintly, the sound of the kitchen below her still humming.

Before she drifts away, Rikki pulls out her phone, tapping on the text message thread between her and Gojo. Gojo's name in her phone reading as 'Satoru💕' "The dancing last night was nice. It was just with the wrong person." She types up and sends to Gojo.

Rikki's room is quiet in the way that only happens when the rest of the villa is still buzzing three floors below her — muffled voices, the distant clank of a mug, the grey morning pressing soft against the curtains. She's already half under the covers when she pulls up her phone, thumb finding the contact almost on muscle memory. Satoru💕. She types it out without overthinking it — she's too tired to overthink anything — and hits send before she can talk herself into changing a single word. Then she sets the phone face-down on the nightstand, pulls the covers up to her chin, and is asleep before the read receipt even has a chance to appear.

Gojo Satoru: "Wrong person."

💌 let the message breathe — you meant every word

Upstairs, Rikki's phone goes face-down on the nightstand and she closes her eyes — she meant it, every syllable, and there's a particular quiet that comes from saying something true and not waiting around for the reply. Down in the kitchen, Gojo doesn't move for a full three seconds. Not his hands, not his mouth, not the deliberate way he usually holds himself when the cameras are on him — just completely, genuinely still, the way a person goes still when something lands somewhere they weren't braced for. His thumb hovers over the screen. He doesn't type back. He sets the phone face-down on the counter with a care that is its own kind of answer, and his exhale is just barely audible over the ambient hum of the refrigerator.

Gojo Satoru: "Okay."

Yuji Itadori: "...I'm going to bed."

Nanami Kento: "Director's message says wear something you can move in. Afternoon. All of us. Whatever that means for today — get some sleep first."

Toji Fushiguro: "She'll be down in a few hours."

Choso: "Let her sleep."

😴 let her sleep — the afternoon is coming

the villa — overcast afternoon light pooling flat across the living room floor

Rikki comes downstairs looking like sleep actually worked — hair down, something comfortable but sharp, the particular energy of a person who gave herself exactly the hours she needed and not one more. The villa has rearranged itself in the interim: the kitchen is clean, the unsigned note is gone from the fruit bowl (or still there — nobody mentions it either way), and every single man in the building is already dressed like they got Nanami's memo about moving. The Director is standing in the center of the living room when she hits the bottom step, clipboard in hand, the overcast afternoon pressing soft grey light through every window, and the assembled energy in the room is the specific tension of people who've had a few hours to think about what this afternoon means. Gojo is the first one she clocks — leaning against the far wall with his arms crossed, sunglasses pushed up into his hair, and when their eyes meet he doesn't say anything, doesn't perform anything — just holds it for one full beat before the Director speaks.

Rikki looks around the space to see if everyone is there.... including... Yuki? Her eyes dart around.

Rikki hits the bottom step and her eyes do a full sweep of the room — automatic, instinctive — ticking through faces the way you do when you've learned to always know who's in the building. Choso by the kitchen entry, Nanami with his coffee, Yuji already vibrating near the window, Toji in the doorframe like load-bearing architecture, Megumi at the back, Geto angled near the terrace door. Gojo against the wall, sunglasses in his hair, watching her do exactly this. Her gaze moves, keeps moving — and then it snags. Yuki. On the couch. Legs crossed. Watching Rikki specifically, with the particular stillness of someone who has already decided how this afternoon goes and is simply waiting for everyone else to catch up.

Gojo Satoru: "First slot. Bold strategy, actually."

Choso: "I'll take it."

"Hey director, quick question before we begin. Who picked the order?" Rikki asks

Rikki's question lands with the easy authority of someone who already suspects the answer — and the room shifts, just slightly, the way it does when she takes up more space than the script allows. The Director doesn't flinch, but there's the smallest pause before the clipboard moves. From the couch, Yuki's chin lifts — a micro-adjustment, the kind that means she's recalibrating. Choso, who has just stepped back from his round, rolls his shoulder once and settles into quiet attention, watching Rikki the way he always does: like she's something worth paying close attention to. Then Geto Suguru peels himself off the terrace wall — unhurried, deliberate, the particular stillness of a man who's been waiting for exactly this moment — and moves to the center of the room like the floor was always his.

Gojo Satoru: "Randomly. Sure."

Geto Suguru: "Rikki. Ready when you are."

🎯 step up — let's see what he's got

The Director's clipboard drops half an inch — not much, but enough. Geto, still standing in the center of the floor, tilts his head by a fraction and watches the Director's face the way he watches everything: cataloguing. From the couch, Yuki's composure stays perfectly assembled, but her eyes track to the Director just a beat too quickly. The order question lands in the room like a stone dropped in still water, and for one suspended second, nobody fills the silence. Then Gojo pushes off the wall — unhurried, completely unbothered, sunglasses still in his hair — and steps forward to claim the floor like it was always his turn anyway.

Gojo Satoru: "Third. Fine. I'll just make sure they have something to compare it to."

Nanami Kento: "He's been practicing in his head since Choso stepped up. That's either impressive or deeply worrying."

🎯 step up — let's see what he's got

Rikki steps forward into the center of the floor — and Gojo, already there, turns to face her with the particular stillness of a man who has been waiting for exactly this for three rounds. The room reorganizes itself around the two of them: Choso folds his arms across his chest, watching from the kitchen entry with quiet pride; Nanami sets his coffee down like he might need both hands free; Yuji presses one palm flat to the garden window, breath fogging slightly against the glass. Then Megumi unfolds himself from the back wall — one long, measured step forward — because it's his round, and Gojo's about to find out the hard way that stepping up to the floor doesn't mean it's yours yet.

Gojo Satoru: "Finally. You know I've been waiting to do this since Choso started stretching."

Megumi Fushiguro: "Round four is mine. Step back, Gojo."

Gojo Satoru: "...I'm sorry — did you just actually tell me to step back?"

🪢 tie in — let's go, Megumi

Rikki takes the rope from the Director's hand and turns to face Megumi — and the room pulls taut the way it does when something is about to actually matter. He crosses the floor without ceremony, no warm-up, no performance: just Megumi Fushiguro walking toward her like the rope was already his from the start, crouching to tie the knot at their ankles himself — neat, efficient, two pulls — then straightening to full height and looking at her like she is the only variable in this equation he intends to solve. Behind him, Gojo has retreated exactly one step toward the wall, arms crossed, and the silence from his direction has a specific shape — the shape of a man absolutely not sulking who is definitely sulking. The overcast light sits flat and even across the room, no shadows to hide in, everyone watching.

Megumi Fushiguro: "Stay with my pace. Don't try to lead — just stay with it."

Gojo Satoru: "That's your pep talk? 'Don't try to lead'?"

Nanami Kento: "He's right, actually."

🎯 let him lead, watch what he does

The Director clicks the stopwatch the second Rikki stops fighting Megumi's rhythm and starts following it — and that's when the whole room goes quiet, because something shifts. He doesn't explain himself, doesn't narrate the run; he just moves, and she moves with him, and twelve seconds down the garden path they hit a stride that's almost embarrassing to watch. When they fold back-to-back for the stand-up drill, his shoulders find hers with the economy of someone who has thought about geometry her whole life, and they're on their feet in one clean push. In the doorframe, Toji's jaw works once, slow, and he looks away — not at the wall, out at the overcast sky, somewhere he doesn't have to see it end.

Gojo Satoru: "Twelve four. Sure. Great number. Love that for him."

Megumi Fushiguro: "Arms up. Don't help — let me do it."

🌊 go still — make him prove it

Rikki goes still — weight balanced, arms loose, giving him nothing — and Megumi clocks it in exactly half a second. He doesn't ask for confirmation. He shifts his grip to the back of her thighs, checks the rope knot with one thumb press, and then lifts her in a single clean motion that makes the room go abruptly, completely silent. The pool water catches the flat grey light as he wades in with her, unhurried, every step deliberate — and the stillness she gave him becomes the proof he works with: he adjusts for her weight, for the overcast chill on the water's surface, for the fact that she isn't helping and he was never asking her to. Behind them, Gojo's jaw moves once, closes. In the doorframe, Toji's chin drops from the sky and lands on the back of Megumi's neck.

Megumi Fushiguro: "You went still on purpose."

Gojo Satoru: "Thirty-eight. He just — thirty-eight."

Nanami Kento: "She made it harder and he went faster. That's the note."

Rikki shrugged at Megumi. "You said 'Don't help - let me do it.' And so I did." She stated matter-of-factly

Rikki says it matter-of-factly, water still lapping quiet at their ankles, and the room absorbs it in layers — first Nanami, who closes his eyes exactly once, slowly; then Yuji, who presses one hand flat to his own mouth like he's physically stopping himself from saying something; then Gojo, whose crossed arms loosen by about two degrees, jaw finally releasing, because that sentence just said more about her than thirty minutes of relay ever could. Megumi looks at her — not a performance of looking, just the real thing, direct and unhurried — and there's something behind it that doesn't quite resolve into any category he has filed away. The rope still connects them at the ankle, water still, grey afternoon light catching the surface flat and even.

Megumi Fushiguro: "Yeah. I know."

Gojo Satoru: "She said it like she was reading the weather. That's — yeah, that's her."

Nanami Kento: "He asked her not to help. She didn't. That's either trust or a very elegant trap, and I'm not sure it matters which."

"You said 'Don't help - let me do it.', and so, I let you," Rikki stated matter-of-factly to Megumi, as if she had no idea what he was talking about, playing it coy.
